Comic relief or poking fun, whatever it’s called, Intruder Squadron bulletin boards said it all.

The first and last time I sat in an Intruder, my dad lowered 3 year-old me into the B/N’s seat. My obsession with the A6 began right there on the flight deck of the Independence.

Above, My dad Lt junior grade Terry Plantinga doing his pre-flight routine on the Kitty Hawk in
April, 1969. On this day, Terry took a 35 mm camera loaded with slide film and captured a sequence of pictures while on a hop. They documented the job in 1969 for history. To me, it’s important for future generations to see what happened, rather than reading about it.
